A joint endeavor between the Cohen Film Collection and the Cineteca di Bologna, The Keaton Project aims to restore the films the great screen comedian Buster Keaton made between 1920 and 1928. We’re excited to share one of the fruits of that labor, Battling Butler, in which Keaton plays a rich dandy who must pretend to be a fearsome boxer in order to win the love of a country girl. Tim Lanza is vice president and archivist at Cohen Film Collection. He has overseen the collection since 1992 and restorations of such films as Buster Keaton’s The General (1926), James Whale’s The Old Dark House (1932), David Miller’s Sudden Fear (1952), and Julie Dash’s Daughters of the Dust (1991). This is his fifth appearance at Cinema Revival.
