The Wexner Center is proud to host the opening night of the third-annual Columbus Black International Film Festival! Enjoy this free screening at 5 PM, a cash bar and complimentary snacks in the lower lobby at 6 PM, and a screening of Djibril Diop Mambéty’s Hyenas at 7 PM.

In Anemone Me, the only black fisherman living on the coast of Maine works to provide for his wife and handsome blind son. Things take a magical turn when a beautiful merman arrives out of the sea and develops a strong attraction to the boy. (28 mins., 4K DCP) The comedy Oreos with Attitude follows a young black couple desperate to climb the social ladder in New York City. Perhaps inspired by Donald Trump’s book The Art of the Deal, the couple thinks they will finally make it big if they adopt a white child. (30 mins., 4K DCP). Both films were produced in conjunction with Apparatus Productions, an influential nonprofit company founded by Christine Vachon, Todd Haynes, and Barry Ellsworth in 1987.

Columbus Black International Film Festival continues through August 25. Visit columbusbiff.com for more about the festival and a complete schedule.
