Designer Ayse Birsel visits Ohio State and the Wex to invite you to redesign your life.
Ayse (Eye-shay) Birsel is the designer behind items you use every day—Herman Miller office chairs, kitchen tools at Target, and even toilet seats for TOTO. The New York Times featured her work among the 25 best designs of the last 100 years. Companies like Amazon, Toyota, and Facebook bring her in to teach them how to think differently.
Birsel thinks your life is your biggest design project. While sharing stories about people who’ve redesigned their lives, she’ll prompt you to reveal things about yourself that you didn’t even know.
Stay after the talk for a Q&A with Birsel. Whether you’re studying or working in the fields of business, psychology, engineering, design, or something else, you’ll walk out with actual insights about what you want your life to look like—not just what you think you should want.

Ayse (Eye-shay) Birsel is one of the world’s leading industrial designers, recognized for her human-centered approach to design. She is the cofounder of Birsel + Seck with her husband, Bibi Seck. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and she has designed hundreds of products—from toilet seats and office systems to concept cars. Through her movement and book, Design the Life You Love, she has helped thousands of people apply her design thinking methodology to transform their lives and work. She applies the same principles and process to help organizations codesign experiences customers love.
