Warm up this February with Alfredo Rodríguez and Pedrito Martínez for a captivating evening of Afro-Cuban jazz and masterful rhythms.
The Alfredo Rodríguez Band, joined by virtuoso percussionist Pedrito Martínez, will bring a vibrant fusion of Cuban jazz, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and contemporary improvisation to the Wex. Celebrated for his dazzling piano technique and inventive compositions, Rodríguez leads his ensemble through rich harmonic landscapes that seamlessly blend tradition and innovation. With Martínez adding his signature conga-driven energy and infectious rhythmic flair, this upcoming performance promises an unforgettable evening of dynamic grooves and a joyous celebration of Latin jazz.

Painted in the broadest of strokes, the stories of Alfredo Rodríguez and Pedrito Martínez may seem similar: both started life in Havana, discovered their gifts and passions for music and headed to the US, where they melded the music of their homeland with a wide variety of influences, each in his own deeply personal way. But their upbringings and musical stylings differ. Rodríguez was born into a musical family; his father was a popular singer and TV host. Martínez, on the other hand, honed his craft on the streets of Havana, learning the deeply rooted percussion and vocal style of Afro-Cuban folkloric and religious music.
