"Undeniable charm and ingenious virtuosity."--Billboard
Senegalese Afropop superstar Baaba Maal returns for a special all-acoustic concert--something his throngs of fans have long hoped for.
"I want to be more international and well-known. But at the same time I donÌt want to turn my back to Africa and my roots."--Baaba Maal
Laid-back but intense, Baaba Maal's rootsy sound is buoyed by his long-time musical ally (and friend from childhood) Mansour Seck. His tight band, featured on his recent CD Missing You), anchors Maals's soaring vocals with the mesmerizing, bluesy rhythms of West Africa.
Ethiopian singing sensation Gigi opens the concert with her own acoustic set. Her stunning self-titled debut CD was produced by Bill Laswell and features Herbie Hancock and Pharoah Sanders among others.
Don't miss this special acoustic evening!
