Don’t miss this chance to preview the latest work by noted choreographer Bebe Miller—and to hear directly from her and her collaborators about the ideas that inform it—before In a Rhythm premieres here in December.
This summer, the nationally acclaimed, Columbus-based artist and Ohio State professor emerita will take advantage of a Wex-sponsored residency to develop her next project, a suite of works and events focused on the dance-making process. In a Rhythm was conceived during a yearlong dialogue between Miller and fellow choreographer Susan Rethorst. Stemming from Miller’s recent engagement with experimental theater and inspired by Toni Morrison, Gertrude Stein, and David Foster Wallace—writers who capture diverse connections through the structure of their language—the project will explore the syntax of movement and how we absorb its meaning.
Dancing in The Making Room is a National Performance Network (NPN)Creation Fund/Forth Fund Project co-commissioned by Wexner Center for the Arts in partnership with New York Live Arts; On the Boards, Seattle; and NPN. For more information: www.npnweb.org.
Bebe Miller Company’s residency at the Wexner Center is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
