Game of Life

Ohio Premiere

A woman stands with her arms outstretched on a table with audience members gathered around.

You’re invited to a dinner party: part documentary, part lucid dream, and not entirely under control.

An immersive two-part exploration of mortality, the urgency of time, and the holding on to and letting go of relationships, Game of Life is based on the personal story of bluemouth inc. artist Lucy Simic experienced through both a live performance (Elephant), and an interactive video installation (Lucy AI). Expect laughter, dancing, and moments that will stay with you long after the night ends.

Elephant brings you into a shared space with the performers, where the ripple effects of one life-changing event unfold. It’s honest and deeply human—blending personal stories, spontaneous moments, and heartfelt connections as the group navigates how to hold on to each other, find joy, and make sense of life.

When Lucy was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2018, her dear friend David Usher (from Reimagine AI and Climate Clock) wanted to make sure her memories lived on. The result is Lucy AI—an interactive video installation where you can step into Lucy’s world, hear her thoughts, and connect with her memories. It’s personal, powerful, and changes every time you experience it.

Lucy AI (90 mins.) will begin at 6 PM nightly. Patrons are welcome to come and go as they please during that time. After a brief intermission at 7:30 PM, Elephant will begin at 8 PM. (program approx. 80 mins.)

About the artist

bluemouth, inc.

Formed in 1998, bluemouth inc. is a Canadian not-for-profit performance collective that creates original, dynamic, and immersive performance events for audiences in alternative spaces. The collective is made up of four core members trained in various artistic disciplines who have a common vision of sharing their different experiences and forging a new language. The artistic mandate of any bluemouth inc. project is to create a performance that marries choreographed movement, text, dialogue, sound design, original live music, video, and film to create a cohesive, multisensory experience. The various themes of their performances are multilayered and strive to be a relevant and vital witness to our time. One significant hallmark of any bluemouth inc. performance is an attempt to challenge levels of interaction between performers and audience. The audience is invited to venture through a unique theatrical experience, moving through a blizzard of iconic moments and actions. Whatever the show, there will always be a surprise.
