“In a career spanning more than half a century, Lloyd’s well of creativity has never run dry. He remains peerless when it comes to producing transcendent music.”—All About Jazz

Join us when composer and saxophonist Charles Lloyd performs his questing and transcendent music with this specially formed quartet featuring Wex favorite Bill Frisell, drummer Eric Harland, and bassist Reuben Rogers. Check out the band’s outstanding new recording I Long To See You, just released on Blue Note, for a preview.

Lloyd is revered for his many decades as a jazz innovator, from his heady days in the sixties filling the Fillmore West with psychedelic groovers to becoming an elder statesman of the music today. He remains one of the foremost figures on the scene, being recognized as a 2015 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master for his ever-searching, spiritually charged music that combines his sharp improvisational skills with an interest in infusing jazz with non-Western musical styles. Don’t miss this intimate performance in the beautiful Lincoln Theatre, as Lloyd’s emotional, elegant playing spurs on his stellar band.
