"His live sets are some of jazz's most rewarding experiences of the moment."—New York Times Ticket includes free admission to the Art after Hours party, hosted by 12º Circle. It swings from 8:30 to 10:30 pm. Jazziz magazine calls Greg Osby "one of the most potent, complete, and important saxophonists in jazz." The St. Louis native is also a prime mover in Brooklyn's M-Base collective of jazz activists, which includes Steve Coleman, Cassandra Wilson, and Jason Moran, among others. A restless creator who can balance fiery passion with cool control, Osby learned from such forward-thinking masters as Jack DeJohnette, Muhal Richard Abrams, and Lester Bowie. Now he leads his own outstanding bands through brilliant originals and inspired treatments of jazz classics, including Ellington's "East St. Louis Toodle-Oo" and Monk's "Light Blue," as heard on his recent Blue Note CD, St. Louis Shoes. Check out Public, his just-issued live CD, for a preview of the sparks that will fly at our cabaret-style show. Before or after the show, you can enjoy the free Art after Hours party, hosted by 12º Circle. There'll be complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.
