Neo-folk singer and eclectic lyricist Joanna Newsom accompanies herself on harp. Tan or Boil (aka) Jason Bacasa) opens the show.

With her first full length release, The Milk-Eyed Mender for Drag City, singer Joanna Newsom's disarmingly beguiling homespun narratives catapulted her to the forefront on the neo-folk scene alongside her friends and kindred spirits Will Oldham and Devendra Banhart. Accompanying herself on harp, Newsom sings pastoral tunes about sleep, whalebones, owls, burning boats, milk, balloons, colors, and kin with in an ethereal voice that is distinctly unconventional but connects deeply with her devoted audience.

Opening is Tan or Boil (aka Jason Bacasa). Now based in San Francisco, he recently headed west from Pittsburgh with not much more than a few suitcases, a guitar, and a four-track recorder. His softly intoned songs, accompanied by his finger-picked guitar, have been showcased alongside such talents as Devendra Banhart, Clem Snide, and The Walkmen.
