"Pure power-pop suss…ensures that there’s more to them than furious riffs… we’re mad about the Joy."--NME

The Joy Formidable, a Welsh trio now based in London, have built an international buzz with darkly ominous fuzz-toned slabs of sound riding sugar-sweet melodies. A Balloon Called Moaning, their hotly tipped debut EP, let loose a host of breakout tunes such as "Popinjay," "Cradle," and "Austere." Fans of bands like Arcade Fire, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Ohio's own the Breeders will be sure to also connect with their approach to dream-pop bliss. In this concert, you can look for the Joy Formidable to preview new tunes from their next release, a full-length debut on new label Canvasback Music/Atlantic Records, expected in early 2011. Blogcritics hit the nail on the head in this posting: "The trio has made a huge name for themselves for their live work. I'd say do yourself the favor and find the nearest venue and check it out."
