Click here for details. Celebrate the sophisticated and sensual music of nuevo tango in this special concert featuring bandoneon master and composer Lisandro Adrover. (The bandoneon is the accordion-like lead instrument commonly associated with tango music.) Adrover shares the stage with the Cuartetango String Quartet—the only string quartet devoted to tango—and guest dancers who enliven the evening with fiery steps and the spirit of Buenos Aires. (Due to illness bandoneonist Nestor Marconi is no longer part of this performance.)Nuevo tango sprang from a revolutionary fusion of the passionate tangos of Argentina with ideas from jazz and contemporary classical music. The Cuartetango ensemble's leader, violinist Leonardo Suarez Paz, grew up alongside this music's greatest protagonists and collaborators, including his father, Fernando Suarez Paz, and the legendary Astor Piazzolla.
