My Brightest Diamond with Tim Fite

"She treads territory that would make others look clumsy, to string together multiple moments of beauty."—Pitchfork

My Brightest Diamond’s singer/songwriter Shara Worden, a frequent collaborator with Sufjan Stevens, caught widespread attention with her debut release, Bring Me the Workhorse on the Asthmatic Kitty label. Featuring precise arrangements with flourishes from classical strings balancing her tough guitar playing, Worden offers huskily sung torch songs and breathy ballads about the fleeting qualities of love and life. Her poetic allusions to ephemeral beauty and her artfully composed instrumental framing combine in a very winning combination that is sure to make this one of the must-see shows on our calendar.

Opening the evening is Tim Fite, a "lo-fi lone wolf from Brooklyn...somewhere between folk and hip-hop," to quote the New York Times. The newspaper describes his latest album, Over The Counter Culture, as "a harsh indictment of consumerism and the American dream of selling out" with which “he has made himself into a cultural gadfly."
