#PUNK

Inspired by her formative years in Zimbabwe and two of the world’s fiercest female music icons, Bessie Award–winning choreographer nora chipaumire presents a live performance album presented over the course of two evenings.

#PUNK (October 24) expresses an aesthetic of self-reliance and noncommercial art-making spurred by a 1978 declaration by poet and rock legend Patti Smith: “I haven’t fucked much with the past / But I’ve fucked plenty with the future.” A soliloquy about first discoveries and the overconsumption of pop culture, 100% POP (October 25) channels the defiant model, singer, and actor Grace Jones.

Each performance features an opening music act curated by Columbus singer-songwriter and 2019 Wexner Center Artist Residency Award Recipient Sharon Udoh (of Counterfeit Madison).

"Defiantly charismatic…Nora Chipaumire has long been a kind of rock star of dance."
