"Spellbinding virtuosity...with improvisations that flew far above cultural boundaries."--New York Times

The Remember Shakti band reignites the sublime experience of hearing and seeing guitar legend John McLaughlin perform alongside major talents in Indian classical music. Jazz guitar great John McLaughlin has been a focal point of many exceptional musical lineups. But his stint with Shakti, his groundbreaking East-meets-West ensemble of the mid 1970s, remains among the closest to his heart. The Remember Shakti band reignites the sublime experience of hearing and seeing McLaughlin perform alongside major talents in Indian classical music who also enjoy new improvisational ventures, uniting him once again with tabla master Zakir Hussain.

McLaughlin and Hussain are now joined by U. Shrinivas, the Karnatic electric mandolin virtuoso whose swooping cascades of harmonies interlock with McLaughlin's nimble lines, and percussionist Selvaganesh, whose ghatam clay drums mesh with Hussain's commanding counterpoint.

Downbeat magazine raves, "Despite the group's name, this is no nostalgia tour....Remember Shakti is a band that will never be forgotten, and every performance is a priceless moment."
