“His voice is…a vessel for liquid melancholy...he stretches pop structures with repetition that grows devotional, obsessive, hypnotic.”—New York Times

Aussie singer-songwriter Ry Cuming, who performs as RY X, is one of the most buzzed-about talents to emerge from last spring’s South by Southwest festival. After several collaborations (with Frank Wiedemann as Howling and singing for the band Acid), he recently released his own striking debut, Dawn, on the Loma Vista label in his new home base of LA. In Dawn, Cuming’s beguiling and emotional incantations—which bear distinct traces of Bon Iver and his hero Jeff Buckley—float over psych-folk passages that meld dreamily into subliminal, organic dance beats. Our intimate Performance Space and its superb sound (set up tonight with wine and beer service) will give him the ideal ambience in which to deliver his haunting songs to discerning Columbus music fans.
