TENGGER

Ohio Premiere

Band members itta and Marqido and their young child stand in a grassy field. There are mountains and a blue sky filled with clouds in the background.

Experience the panoramic and peaceful synth-based sounds of TENGGER as the family band makes its Ohio debut at the Wex.

Featuring Pan-Asian couple itta and Marqido and their son RAAI, TENGGER creates psychedelic, New Age music using harmonium, voice, toy instruments (played by itta), and analogue synths and drum machines (played by Marqido). Since 2012 the group has called themselves TENGGER—meaning unlimited expanse of sky in Mongolian—to mark the expansion of the family.

Informed from their yearly family pilgrimages, TENGGER uses the focused intensity of devotional music to create a divine repetition that guides the sounds through real environments. Influenced from the teachings of Suzuki Shunryu, the minimalist mysticism of composer Terry Riley, and the rhythmic trance of Krautrock bands like Cluster, TENGGER’s widescreen sound offers a sonic portrait of a life spent in transit. Enjoy their soothing sounds in this family friendly performance. (program approx. 60 mins.)
