"A deeply felt poetics of dance...marked by elegance, empathy and wit."--Artforum

Noted New York choreographer Tere O'Connor makes his Columbus debut in this program cosponsored by Ohio State's top-rated Department of Dance. O'Connor and his company perform his recent work Choke, which deals wittily with an array of unexpressed emotions drawn from impromptu sidewalk encounters. Minneapolis's Star Tribune describes the piece as "intensely physical, full of skewed angles, halting poses, and recognizable gestures," and concludes, "O'Connor's world is a complex one, indeed."

In addition, O'Connor unveils his latest work, Winter Belly, which delineates a place of refuge within a metaphorical winterscape set to the haunting music of Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina.

Presented by Ohio State's Department of Dance and the Wexner Center.
