These New Puritans with El Jesus de Magico

"Rock that was spikier than a bushel of sea urchins."
New York Times

British quartet These New Puritans are the new face of stylishly cheeky British rock. Already tipped for the top at home in the U.K., they were among the bands generating the most buzz at this year’s influential South by Southwest festival. Now with the U.S. release of Beat Pyramid (their debut CD on the Domino label) and its breakout track "Elvis," they’re taking off fast in the States, too. Their energetic approach rides on deep rhythms, with echoes of proto-post-punk bands Gang of Four and Public Image Ltd. reverberating in their pounding pulse.

Opening the evening will be fast-rising Columbus five-piece, El Jesus de Magico, who cook up a throbbing post-punk bouillabaisse, heavy on effects and attitude.
