Local legend Tommy Jay will activate one of Jason Moran’s STAGED installations—large-scale reproductions of storied jazz clubs—in this free performance open to the public. Please arrive early: space is limited for this standing-room only show!
A veritable missing link in Ohio “new wave” history, Tommy Jay is one of the Midwest’s most unheralded songwriters to emerge from the 1970s. Though playing with such underground ensembles as True Believers, Mike Rep and the Quotas, and Ego Summit, he’s only just beginning to get his due thanks to reissues from Siltbreeze and Columbus Discount Records, including the sought-after Tommy Jay’s Tall Tales of Trauma (1986). (Performance approx. 30 mins. long.)
