"Wilson's plays present this world as a crucible in which the identity of black America has been shaped."—Pittsburgh Post-Gazette This highlight from the King Arts Complex's 20th-anniversary season continues our annual partnership. Columbus's Ujima Theatre Company honors playwright August Wilson, who passed away last year, with this production of his acclaimed play Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. The first in Wilson's 10-play chronicle of African American life, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom features an array of unforgettable characters that orbit pioneering singer Ma Rainey, the force of nature who was the legendary "Queen of the Blues."

Presented by the King Arts Complex in association with the Wexner Center.
