"Artist and Album of the Year."
--JazzTimes

"It was the year of Wayne: everywhere this new group went, it slayed audiences. This album is a great return to form for the the saxaphonistÛone of our best jazz musicians."
--Ben Ratliff, New York Times, on Footprints Live!

"Spellbinding...true quartet music, driven by spontaneity, impulse and shared commitment to the whole."
--Village Voice

Jazz saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter came to wide prominence playing alongside Herbie Hancock in Miles Davis's second great quintet and as a founding member of the groundbreaking group Weather Report. Shorter, whom All About Jazz magazine rightly calls "a true jazz legend," has also delivered a string of outstanding recordings as a leader.

Now Shorter's stellar career is enjoying fresh attention with new work that confirms his status as one of jazz's most eloquent masters. Footprints Live! (Verve) brilliantly documents his fantastic band featuring dazzling pianist Danilo Perez, bassist John Patitucci, and hot young drummer Brian Blade. That inspired live session serves as a forecast for their show here, sure to be a highlight of this year's jazz calendar.
