"Brainy and block-rocking rarely coexist like this."—Entertainment Weekly YACHT's core duo of Jona Bechtolt (formerly with The Blow) and Claire L. Evans bring their disco-with-a-smile action to the Wex. Aided by a full band they'll deliver the throbbing grooves of "The Afterlife" and "I'm in Love With a Ripper" to delight local fans itching to dance. The musical axis that links Portland, Oregon, with Marfa, Texas, is at the heart of YACHT's artful electro-sound. The name YACHT, says Jona "stands for Young Americans Challenging High Technology" and comes from an educational program in Portland "that I was enrolled in when I was 16, back in 1996." Brooklyn duo Light Asylum fill the support slot with their industrial-edged synth-pop. Bobby Birdman of YACHT opens the show with a solo set.
