Curators Conversation on Ming Smith: One Artist, Three Venues

Presented by Columbus Museum of Art and moderated by Nicole Rome, Director of Collections and Exhibitions

Ming Smith, wearing a red dress, stands in the middle of a narrow, triangular gallery space. Framed photographs hang on the walls on either side of her.

Delve into the life and legacy of a trailblazing artist whose contributions continue to shape the landscape of contemporary photography.

Join an insightful conversation with the curators behind four central Ohio exhibitions celebrating the work of Ming Smith, an internationally acclaimed photographer raised in Columbus. Columbus Museum of Art Executive Director and CEO Brooke A. Minto, former Head of Exhibitions at the Wexner Center for the Arts Kelly Kivland, and David and Francie Horvitz Family Foundation Director and Chief Curator of The Gund at Kenyon College Daisy Desrosiers will explore the breadth and significance of Smith’s creative practice and discuss the shared vision between the institutions to celebrate Smith’s artistic legacy.

Each venue is showing different series of Smith’s work, including the Wexner Center’s Ming Smith: Wind Chime, offering visitors a sweeping view of her decades-long career.

Visit the Columbus Museum of Art website for more information and to register.
