In this talk Jennifer Schlueter, associate chair for curriculum in Ohio State’s Department of Theatre and joint artistic director of the for/word company, traces the ways Black Mountain College has been mapped and mythologized since its closing in 1957. Simultaneously considered an outpost for progressive pedagogy and a failed experiment, a crucible for creation and an emblem of exclusion, Black Mountain College continues to be talked about and dreamt of by artists and educators well into the 21st century.
