Karim Rashid

Design star Karim Rashid discusses the notion of "blurring" in his work.

After the lecture, Rashid signs copies of the new monograph Karim Rashid: I Want to Change the World and other works in the Wexner Center Bookshop.

As a designer, Karim Rashid mediates between industry and the user to develop products that inspire and engage us. Tonight he explores this theme of "blurring"--the "blurring" of forms, of organic and pure geometries, of natural and synthetic materials--as it applies to his work, on display in Mood River.

Born in Cairo, Rashid studied industrial design and worked for firms in Canada and Italy before opening his own practice in New York City in 1993. His many clients include Issey Miyake, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Citibank, and Yahoo. His work has been exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art, New York; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Philadelphia Museum of Art; and the Wexner Center.
