Join Gary Panter, Peter Bagge, and Jessica Abel—three of the most outstanding cartoon artists working today—for a spirited discussion of their art and current directions in the field. A book signing with the panelists follows in the bookshop. This discussion complements the exhibition Splat Boom Pow! The Influence of Cartoons in Contemporary Art, on view at the Wexner Center Galleries at The Belmont Building through May 2. Panelists Gary Panter Peter Bagge Jessica Abel Moderator Brian Rotman Gary Panter, known for Jimbo: Adventures in Paradise, is the "King of Punk Art" and an Emmy Awardñwinning set designer for the Pee Wee's Playhouse television show. Fantagraphics artist Peter Bagge is the author of the popular comic Hate and former editor of Weirdo, R. Crumb's legendary magazine. Jessica Abel is another Fantagraphics artist and the author of the award-winning Artbabe comics series. The panel is moderated by Brian Rotman, professor in Ohio State's Department of Comparative Studies.
