The Wex is saying "gay" for the month of May with an incredible film series featuring some of the earliest and most influential films about the LGBTQ+ experience. Pioneers of Queer Cinema, a program presented with the assistance of the UCLA Film & Television Archive, IndieCollect, and Outfest, presents four features and an assortment of shorts by artists such as Kenneth Anger, Cheryl Dunye, Rob Epstein, and Todd Haynes. At the top of the page, you can check out a playlist of trailers for three of the features: the Oscar-winning The Times of Harvey Milk, which screens May 4; The Watermelon Woman, screening May 11; and Parting Glances, screening May 20. And below, you'll find links to a handful of writings about the films on view. We hope you'll join us for one or all of these entertaining, touching, and groundbreaking works.
