It's official: Last Thursday's kickoff reception for Mickalene Thomas: I Can't See You Without Me was a blowout, with one of the biggest opening night crowds for a Wex exhibition in recent memory. It really got going with a standing-room-only artist talk between Mickalene and Beverly Guy-Sheftall, chair of Comparative Women’s Studies, Anna Julia Cooper Professor of Women’s Studies, and the founding director of the Women’s Research and Resource Center at Spelman College in Atlanta. For those that couldn't make the talk or catch the livestream, we're sharing it here. And we strongly recommend a visit to the Wex galleries to not only put the talk in context, but to experience one of the most sublime exhibitions of 2018. Complete visitor info for the center is here.
