December's virtual presentation in The Box, our space for video works supported by the Wex's Film/Video Studio, is the 2020 short documentary Character. Made by Ohio State professor Vera Brunner-Sung, the film fixes on the life and career of Mark Metcalf, a veteran Hollywood actor with a history of being typecast.
We'll be sharing a new interview with the filmmaker and her subject later this month; in the meantime, we're happy to reshare an earlier talk between Brunner-Sung and Associate Film/Video Curator Chris Stults, which took place in the time between a work-in-progress screening that took place at the Wex last October as part of the 2019 Unorthodocs fest and the world premiere of the completed short in January at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
