Think Ahead: Performing Arts

Ashley Stanton, Senior Producer

Jan 05, 2023

For a head start on what's coming, we're devoting the first week of January to recommendations from our curatorial team, intended to help you get better acquainted with some of the artists and programs on tap—or get you caught up on what the artists have been working on recently.

Today, Ashley Stanton, a senior producer on our Performing Arts team, shares a sneak preview of a long-awaited performance happening soon at the Wex.

Yasmin Williams’s Tiny Desk Concert

Called “one of the country’s most imaginative young solo guitarists” by The New York Times, Williams will grace the Wex stage as part of a double bill with the Catalan folk duo Tarta Relena on Tuesday, March 28.

The NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert video above features three songs off Williams’s most recent album, Urban Driftwood (2021). It showcases everything that we love most about this promising young artist, from the way her bright, gentle guitar melodies mesmerize the listener to the wildly inventive percussive techniques that make her solo act sound like a group.
