Join internationally acclaimed artist Walid Raad for a presentation on his groundbreaking artistic practice of photography, video, installation, and performance.
Raad returns to the Wex to share his interdisciplinary approach to challenging traditional ways of storytelling and historical documentation. He examines how we come to trust photographic and video documents, what roles memory and stories play in times of conflict, and how art histories are created in the Arab world. His work also explores the rapid growth of museums, galleries, and art fairs alongside the political and military conflicts that have shaped the region.
Join Raad for a Q&A after the presentation.

In his words, Walid Raad is, “In part, an artist and a Professor of Photography [at] Bard College” (Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, USA). “The list of exhibitions (good, bad and mediocre ones); awards and grants (merited, not merited, grateful for, rejected and/or returned); education (some of it thought-provoking; some of it, less so); publications (I am fond of some of my books, but more so of the books of Jalal Toufic. You can find his here: jalaltoufic.com), can be found somewhere online.”
