(Eric Leiser, 2016)

Eric Leiser in person

Apocalypsis

Experimental animator Eric Leiser makes films that explore dreams, Christian imagery, surrealism, and magical realism while employing a variety of cinematic techniques, including stop-motion animation and holography. Set in a parallel universe slipping toward destruction as it nears a black hole, his new feature Apocalypsis follows a woman who begins to have intense visions after reading the Book of Revelation. A CalArts grad, Leiser is included in the exhibition Dreamlands: Immersive Cinema and Art, 1905–2016, currently on view at the Whitney Museum of Art in New York. (90 mins., DCP)
