As part of the Wexner Center’s 25th anniversary, The Box is dedicating the entire year of programming to work produced in the Film/Video Studio. Screenings in this free exhibition space for video, located just across from the Wexner Center Store, run continuously seven days a week, the same hours as our ticket office (Mon–Wed: 9 AM–6 PM; Thu–Fri: 9 AM–8 PM; Sat: 10 AM–8 PM; Sun: 11 AM–6 PM).
On view this month are two new works by L.A.–based artist Joe Sola, who describes himself as "working in the space where cinema, fantasy, and reality collide." His works have been featured in galleries worldwide as well as in his first solo exhibition in 2005 at Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE).
Studio Visit (2005) is Sola's newest work and features an international cast of museum curators and gallerists who come to meet the artist for a truly unforgettable studio visit. (February 1–14, video, 7:38 mins.)
Army Ranger Reaching for New Spirit Warrior (from the Mankind Project) Near Mulholland Drive, Los Angeles (2005)--an ambitious new work shot on 35mm film with Hollywood stunt actors--offers a humorous but riveting take on Hollywood action films. It was supported by the Wexner Center's Art & Tech residency program last year. (February 15–28; 35mm film transferred to video, 3:00 mins.)
