ACCESSIBILITYWe strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. If you have questions about accessibility or require an accommodation such as CART captioning or ASL interpretation to participate in this event, please contact Accessibility Manager Helyn Marshall at accessibility@wexarts.org or via telephone at (614) 688-3890. Requests made by two weeks in advance will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the Wexner Center for the Arts will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
Enjoy games, crafts, family time in the galleries, and kid-friendly books and films presented by local artists Keturah A. Bobo, Claudia Owusu, and Ife Oluwamuyide.
This informal, free family-friendly event includes studio activities, exploration of our galleries, and a reading of A Boy and His Mirror, followed by a signing by the book’s illustrator, local artist Keturah A. Bobo. We’ll also screen Ampe: Leap into the Sky, Black Girl—a new, family-friendly short film by Claudia Owusu and Ife Oluwamuyide. Everyone is welcome to meet the artists and ask them questions. Weather permitting, we’ll go outside afterward to play games, including the Ghanaian game Ampe!

Ife Oluwamuyide is a Nigerian American visual artist and filmmaker based in both Columbus, Ohio, and Brooklyn, New York. She is a student at Pratt Institute, studying fine arts with a minor in community art and design education. As a Black female artist, she writes her own narrative, exploring the complexities and beauty of Black womanhood while learning to embrace, love, and cherish every aspect of it. Through her work she hopes to provide access to the otherwise exclusive medium of visual art.
Claudia Owusu is a writer and filmmaker based in Columbus who writes to make sense of her identities as a Ghanaian American woman. She believes in the beauty of community and the intimate stories we share when we think no one is listening. Her work engages the spaces that Black women and girls occupy, namely their relationships with safety, carefreeness, and self-ownership. Her writing has appeared in Vogue Magazine, Clockhouse, and Brittle Paper, and her short films have screened on Nowness and at Urbanworld Film Festival, Film Africa, and Indie Memphis Film Festival. She is an MFA candidate in Creative Writing at Ohio State, specializing in nonfiction.
