What is the human cost of great riches? In this adaptation of an Oscar Wilde short story, a young king learns the true origins of his wealth and must make a choice.
Featuring live, original music and an ingenious stage set filled with surprises, this sophisticated show will speak to children’s natural curiosity and sense of justice. This will be Australian company Slingsby’s second visit to the Wexner Center, following their presentation of its The Tragical Life of Cheeseboy in 2011.
SENSORY-FRIENDLY PERFORMANCE: Please note that the 1 PM Sunday performance will be adapted to better serve audiences with sensory sensitivities and other needs. Modifications will include maintaining soft lighting in audience seating area throughout the performance, lowering the overall volume of sound elements, allowing for audience vocalization and movement, and allowing for patron exits and entrances whenever needed. For more information about the experiential context of this show (social story), to arrange a free previsit, or to make ADA arrangements, please call Wexner Center house management at (614) 688-3890.
Free school performances are available for K–12 school groups May 15–17. Please email edweb@wexarts.org for more information. Help support these free performances by donating a ticket (or several) by clicking on the button to the left or by giving in person at the Wex.
Please note: special event parking ($5) is available in Ohio Union South Garage for the 7 PM performance on Saturday, May 18. Please allow extra time for travel and parking.
