This double feature kicking off the Columbus Moving Picture Show includes new restorations of a beloved comedy and a 3D version of a sci-fi classic!
Thanks to our friends at the 3-D Film Archive, see a rare theatrical screening of the new restoration of Jack and the Beanstalk, featuring legendary comedy duo Bud Abbott and Lou Costello. After the two are hired to babysit a troublesome youngster, they find themselves transported into the classic fairytale, rendered in stunning SuperCinecolor. (80 mins., 2K DCP) Stay for a sneak preview of the 70th-anniversary restoration of the infamous B movie Robot Monster, presented in black and white and 3D! The film follows the menacing alien Ro-Man (who bears a striking resemblance to someone in a gorilla suit wearing a diving helmet). Bent on wiping out humanity, he is foiled when he falls for one of the few remaining women on Earth. (72 mins., 2K DCP)
Members of the 3-D Film Archive restoration team, including President and Founder Bob Furmanek, will join us for the screenings. This program is presented in conjunction with the Columbus Moving Picture Show, whose members will receive our member price! The annual gathering of classic film collectors and enthusiasts runs from May 25 through 28 at the Renaissance Hotel.
