Experience an evening of cinema that, in director Zia Anger’s own words, “re-imagines the relationship between the audience, the filmmaker, the movie theatre, and cinematic narrative.”
Perhaps best known for her music videos for Jenny Hval, Mitski, Angel Olsen, and Maggie Rogers, Anger begins this hybrid film/performance event seated among the theater’s audience, where she screens some of her abandoned works from her laptop and shares stories of her struggles in an industry often hostile to filmmakers who attempt to move beyond the short film phase of their careers. Throughout the program, Anger communicates with the audience through ingenious and disruptive use of everyday technology: whether performing a live narration through split screen, typing into her laptop’s TextEdit program, or with interactive components, including short videos sent to you via Airdrop! (75 mins., digital video with live components)
