Catch two films by prolific Casablanca director Michael Curtiz and starring Hollywood’s most memorable screamer, Fay Wray!
In The Mystery of the Wax Museum, Fay Wray (King Kong) plays a wisecracking New York reporter investigating how Mr. Igor (Lionel Atwill) is able to create such incredibly lifelike figures for his wax museum. Meanwhile, a mysterious, monstrous figure is stealing bodies from the morgue. Could there be a connection? (77 mins., DCP)
Featuring a checklist of subjects soon to be banned by Hollywood's Production Code (murder, cannibalism, and prostitution) Doctor X follows a newspaper reporter (Lee Tracy) as he investigates a serial murderer who appears to be eating his victims. Doctor Xavier (Lionel Atwill) is called in as an expert, but little does he know his staff are among the main suspects. Trust us, it only gets weirder from there. Both films were among the last produced with the early two-color Technicolor process. (76 mins., 35mm)
