Jude Chehab joins us for the Midwest premiere of Q, an intimate look at how questions of spirituality, devotion, and loss are asked and answered across generations.
Chehab's debut feature Q leads viewers deep into the emotional and spiritual worlds of her family, exploring the fraught impact of a secretive Lebanese matriarchal religious order on three generations of women. Filled to the brim with poetry and wisdom, the director masterfully depicts the toll of decades of unflinching loyalty and unrequited love on her mother, grandmother, and herself. As Chehab tenderly yet persistently inquires into her family’s painful histories, she crafts a multigenerational tale of the eternal search for meaning. In Arabic and English with English subtitles. (91 mins., DCP)
Named one of the 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2021 by Filmmaker Magazine, Jude Chehab joins us in person and will participate in a Q&A after the screening.
