Be among the first to see our fall exhibition, Mickalene Thomas: I Can’t See You Without Me, at this preview event featuring a conversation between the 2017–18 Wexner Center Artist Residency Award recipient and Professor Beverly Guy-Sheftall (Spelman College), a contributor to the forthcoming exhibition catalogue. The artist talk takes place in the Film/Video Theater at 5:30 PM. Stay afterward for complimentary snacks, a cash bar, and DJ Trueskillz in the lower lobby and café 6–8:30 PM.
Organized by the Wexner Center, I Can’t See You Without Me explores Thomas’s vibrant and resonant dialogue with identity, desire, and the historically charged relationship between artist and muse across all four of our galleries. You’ll encounter more than 50 of Thomas’s works, including her signature rhinestone-encrusted paintings, as well as collages, immersive installations, and the premiere of a multichannel video set to music by Grammy Award–winning drummer, composer, and producer Terri Lyne Carrington.
