Join student group Cinéseries for the Ohio premiere of Irish artist Myrid Carten’s deeply personal debut documentary feature film.

Myrid Carten’s striking first film, A Want in Her, is a deeply personal portrait of love, resentment, and care. When she returns home to Ireland to find her missing mother, Carten must confront the emotional complexities of a relationship defined by years of addiction. A blend of fiction and documentary, A Want in Her weaves past and present in bold and inventive ways, refusing easy answers and instead inviting audiences to feel their way through the emotional landscape Carten creates. Join Cinéseries after the screening for an informal discussion about the film. Light refreshments provided! In English and Irish with English subtitles. (81 mins., DCP)

About the series

In the words of Cinéseries’ members: Cinéseries is a student-led group that organizes monthly screenings in collaboration with the Wexner Center for the Arts. We aim to offer a space for students and the community to engage with film and expanded cinema from makers of a variety of backgrounds. We aspire to create an environment conducive to critical engagement by inviting filmmakers to showcase work that takes risks, challenges norms, and opens a conversation by devoting to a wide range of artist-centered and independent media.
