Sherlock Jr.

(Buster Keaton, 1924)
Ages 7 and up
With live music by Sue Harshe

Still from Sherlock Jr.

Join us for this sidesplitting, mind-blowing comedy by one of the true visionaries of cinema’s silent era! Scrawl’s Sue Harshe provides live music for this delightful story of a movie theater projectionist and janitor who’s studying to be a detective. While showing a movie about the theft of a pearl necklace, the projectionist falls asleep and dreams that he enters the movie. As always with Buster Keaton, all sorts of visual gags and jaw-dropping slapstick stunts ensue! As the British Film Institute notes, “Keaton’s third feature is a breathtakingly virtuosic display of every silent comedy technique imaginable.” (45 mins., DCP)

"While there is endless debate as to which is the funniest of Buster Keaton’s 1920s features, there’s little doubt as to which is the cleverest."
