Columbus filmmaker and Ohio State Film Studies alum Nicolette Swift has teamed with the art consulting firm Reese Brothers Productions for Art Tells a Story, Let it Tell Yours, a livestream series that shares the experiences and advice of local artists making a living from their work.
Streaming for about an hour each week, the show connects Columbus art educators and administrators with a wealth of local talent for casual talks about their personal and professional connections to art. Participants touch on topics from inspiration, process, and finding a niche to childhood memories of art making.
New episodes drop on Thursdays at 4:30 PM EST. This week's brings together painter Bryant Anthony and Wild Goose Creative interim director Lydia Simon. Among the archived episodes you'll find paper sculptor Lea Gray (pictured at top of page), painter LaShae Boyd, and ceramicist Juliellen Byrne.
There are also a number of conversations with artists with Wex affiliations. Among them, a chat between comic creator and CCAD professor Craig Campbell and multimedia artist Hakim Callwood, a youth tutorial contributor and collaborator with our Learning and Public Practice team; Melissa Vogley Woods, a past Film/Video Studio resident, talking with Columbus Museum of Art curator Tyler Cann about Woods' project Always and a series of photograms that grew from it; and Cann virtually sitting down with Dani and Sheilah ReStack, who are contributing a short to the Cinetracts '20 project, coming to wexarts.org October 8.
