Michael Schultz's career directing for the small screen spans almost 50 years! In the afternoon masterclass “Directing for Television”, presented next Tuesday, October 19, as part of our retrospective of Schultz's work, he'll discuss his prolific career, favorite memories, and the differences between directing for film and television. He has too many TV credits to list them all, but we thought fans might enjoy a crash course in his career through this playlist of episodes available on one or more popular streaming platforms.

The Rockford Files
Season 1, Episode 4: “The Dark and Bloody Ground” (1974)

Rockford’s attorney pressures him into investigating the murder of a screenwriter. 

 

Starsky and Hutch
Season 1, Episode 8: “Kill Huggy Bear” (1975)

Starsky and Hutch’s confidant, Huggy Bear, becomes a target for murder when he is robbed of $50,000 before he can return the “hot” money to the racketeer from whom it was stolen. 

 

The Practice
Season 1, Episode 5: “Part V” (1997)

Eugene defends Steven Frenault for armed robbery, and makes a bet with the D.A. that he will win the case. Ellenor meets George Vogelman, a man that answered her personal ad. Dr. Braun refuses to explore temporary insanity as a defense for the murder of Ronald Martin.

Season 3, Episode 3: “La Familia” (2018)

Jesse's brother Jose is taken to Angels after an accident. Although the team is able to save him from his injuries, they discover he has congestive heart failure and won't live for long. Mario and Noa treat an engaged couple who are both badly injured from a fight that took place at a baseball game. Leanne tries to define her relationship with Ariel, while Ethan opens up to Rox about his brother when she finds a memorial flag in his home.

Season 1, Episode 11: “All Eyez on Me” (2019)

Spencer is flustered when his old Crenshaw teammates show up at a college recruiting event. Olivia pays Asher a visit. Grace considers her own dreams.
