With next week comes Thanksgiving and the official start of the holiday season. As you think about how you'll spend Turkey Day and the aftermath with family and friends, here's some useful info to factor into your planning.
• The Wex is the only place in the country to present the exhibition Mickalene Thomas: I Can't See You Without Me. A weekend visit to the galleries is great for impressing out-of-town guests—and for walking off whatever extra weight you'll be carrying from Thursday's meal.
• Are you off work the Friday after Thanksgiving? We have the charming, little-seen British comedy The Smallest Show on Earth (pictured above) screening in 35mm at 1 PM and admission is just $3. It features comedy legend Peter Sellers in an early big screen performance as an alcoholic projectionist in a rundown movie theater inherited by a young couple. You can gather up the relatives for some very affordable afternoon entertainment. Or you can take a break from the relatives and see it solo.
• Planning to get your shopping started? The Wexner Center Store is celebrating Small Business Saturday and Museum Store Sunday next weekend with 20 percent off the assortment of distinctive gift items by Third Drawer Down featuring Mickalene Thomas's artwork and 40 percent off the super cool and creative kits for kids of all ages from Todd Oldham's Kid Made Modern line.
In the meantime, everyone at the Wex wishes you and yours a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
