November 5 and 6, the Wex turns its Film/Video Theater over to the dynamic duo behind I Saw What You Did. Podcasters Millie De Chirico and Danielle Henderson will join us for a live conversation on Saturday the 6th at 7 PM, and on Friday the 5th at 7 PM, we'll screen a double feature of the feminist classics they'll be discussing: 9 to 5 and Thelma & Louise.

Description: Hi, my name’s Melissa and I’ll be doing a standard audio description for the trailer for the film 9 to 5.
Narrator: Twentieth Century Fox presents [elevator dings] a tribute to anyone who’s been overworked, underpaid, and pushed to the edge by an ungrateful boss.
Description: Women whose faces are never seen walk out of an elevator and go to work on typewriters in a row of desks.
[Upbeat orchestral music starts with a rhythmic typing sound and continues through the video]
Narrator: They arrive promptly at nine, ‘cause if they’re not on time, they know they’ll get the sack. But before they begin the daily grind...
Description: Dripping coffeemaker
Narrator: ...the boss takes his cup black.
Description: Executive Suite
Narrator: They remember each date, make sure he’s not late, and keep everything organized.
Description: Woman filing
Narrator: They reserve tables for brunch, or a three martini lunch, while they dine on burgers and fries.
Narrator: They listen to all his problems, they do their best to please, and even if they run the show, he gets paid for their ideas.
Description: Two men shake hands
Male voice: Great work.
Narrator: And so long as he’s alive from nine to five, they’ll take it all they can.
Gruff male voice over intercom: Miss Rhodes, come in here.
Narrator: But what will go on when the light finally dawns that it’s time to get back at that man?

Darryl: Thelma, haven’t I told you I can’t stand it when you holler in the morning?
Thelma: I’m sorry, darling. I just didn’t want you to be late.
Louise: Hey, how you doing, little housewife?
Narrator: Louise
Thelma: Yeah, I still have to ask Darryl if I can go.
Louise: You mean you haven’t asked him yet?! Thelma, is he your husband or your father?
Narrator: Thelma and Louise are going fishing.
Louise: How come Darryl let you go?
Thelma: ‘Cause I didn’t ask him [laughs]
Louise: [laughing] He’s gonna kill you!
Thelma: I left him a note.
Louise: [laughing]

Thelma: I’ll have a Wild Turkey straight up and a Coke back, please.
Louise: Thelma?!
Thelma: Oh, what? Tell me something, is this my vacation or isn’t it?

Darryl: Thelma, have you lost your mind?

Hal: I’m Investigator Hal Slocum, Arkansas State Police.
Darryl: You get your butt back here, Thelma, now.
Hal: As you know, we’ve tapped your phone.
Darryl: What?
J.D.: Maybe you got a few too many parking tickets?
Louise: Thelma, what’s happened?
[Police sirens]
Thelma: [loud squeal of laughter]
Hal: You’re getting in deeper every moment you’re gone.
Police officer: You wanna step back and get into your car again, please?
Thelma: I swear, three days ago neither one of us would ever pull a stunt like this, but if you was ever to meet my husband, you’d understand why.
Darryl: What?!
Description: Geena Davis is Thelma
Thelma: Louise, shoot the radio.
[Police radio sounds]
Description: Susan Sarandon is Louise
Thelma: No, the police radio, Louise.
Louise: Got it.
Narrator: Thelma and Louise
Louise: How you like the vacation so far?
Thelma: [laughs]
Louise: We’ll be drinking margaritas by the sea, mamacita.
Thelma: Woo!
