Students, staff, faculty, and their friends and family are invited to drop in for our free, informal welcome back to campus! 

Everyone is welcome to participate in what’s happening at the Wex. Join us for music, dance, hands-on art making, gallery experiences with educators, and film screenings—just a taste of what we offer year-round. Hang out and relax on the Mershon porch with some free snacks and beverages. Stop by the Learning & Public Practice department’s welcome table to learn about the day’s offerings, enter a giveaway for books and swag, and hear more about what else the Wex offers throughout the year.

This year’s edition of Open House goes beyond the Wex. Join our campus arts partners from Ohio State’s College of Arts and Sciences for tours of their buildings and more hands-on activities. Be sure to pick up a map of sites to visit when you arrive at our welcome table.

The Wex is the place to encounter the art and issues of our time in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Stop by and see what we are all about.

2023 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour
Film/Video Theater | 4 & 7 PM
This popular annual program returns with seven films from the most recent Sundance Film Festival. This year’s presentation is free (with a ticket) as part of Open House. (90 mins., DCP)

Art-Making Studio
Heirloom Café | 4:30–6:30 PM
Join artists from the Department of Art for an afternoon of studio explorations. This photo engagement will encourage visitors to think about the objects they carry around with them; where do we place value on material things? Cosponsored by the Ohio State Department of Art.

Getting Your Short Film Shown
Film/Video Theater | 5:30 PM
Mike Plante—producer, director, and short film programmer at the Sundance Film Festival—shares tips and strategies about getting your short film out into the world. (program approx. 60 mins.)
