Trauma

(Dario Argento, 1993)

New Restoration

A distorted image of a woman holding a man’s head. She appears to be standing in a bush; the faces are framed by green leaves.

One of two films made by Argento in the United States, Trauma follows a young woman on the run after her parents are murdered by a serial killer.

Set in Minneapolis, Trauma stars Argento’s daughter Asia as Aura, a young woman who escapes from a psychiatric hospital before being returned by the police to her parents’ home. A serial killer wielding a motorized garrote is on the loose—Aura’s parents are the next victims—and Aura finds herself trying to stay one step ahead of the murderer while trying to discover his identity. In Italian with English subtitles. (106 mins., 4K DCP)
