Some of the greatest films from around the world, exploring the darkest sides of humanity.

Join us for this weeklong festival spotlighting some of the greatest films from around the world that explore the darkest sides of humanity and some of the bleakest points in human history. This harrowing, yet powerful lineup of films is defined by stark imagery, unimaginable tragedies, existential fear, nihilism, and shocking acts of brutality. Bleak Week features the world’s leading filmmakers who wholly embrace a cinema of despair in pursuit of unpleasant truths and raw empathy.

Presented in partnership with American Cinematheque, the Wex was thrilled to be invited to participate in Bleak Week, which has expanded to nearly 100 theaters across the country and around the word.
